Preparation and Cooking Time:

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes

  • Cook Time: 8–10 minutes

  • Total Time: 20 minutes

  • Difficulty: Easy

  • Servings: 3

Ingredients:

  • For the Salmon Bites:

    • 450g skinless salmon fillets

    • 1 tbsp olive oil

    • 1 tsp garlic powder

    • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

    • 1/2 tsp onion powder

    • 1/4 tsp black pepper

    • 1/2 tsp salt, or to taste

    • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • For the Garlic Butter Sauce:

    • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

    • 3 garlic cloves, finely minced

    • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

    • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

    • 1/4 tsp chilli flakes, optional

  • For Garnishing:

    • Fresh parsley

    • Lemon wedges

    • A pinch of smoked paprika

Method:

Step 1: Prepare the Salmon

Pat the salmon fillets dry using paper towels to remove excess moisture. This helps the seasoning stick and encourages better browning during air frying. Cut the salmon into evenly sized cubes of approximately 2.5–3cm. Remove any visible bones before cutting.

Step 2: Season the Salmon

Place the salmon cubes in a mixing bowl. Add olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Toss gently until all the pieces are evenly coated. Allow the salmon to rest for 5 minutes while you prepare the garlic butter.

Step 3: Prepare the Garlic Butter

Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for approximately 30–45 seconds until fragrant. Avoid browning the garlic. Stir in the lemon juice, chopped parsley, and optional chilli flakes. Remove from the heat and set aside.

Step 4: Preheat the Air Fryer

Preheat the air fryer to 200°C for approximately 3 minutes, following the manufacturer's instructions. Lightly grease the basket or use a suitable air-fryer liner. Arrange the seasoned salmon cubes in a single layer with a little space between each piece.

Step 5: Air Fry the Salmon

Air fry the salmon at 200°C for 8–10 minutes, depending on the size of the cubes and your appliance. Turn the pieces carefully halfway through cooking if needed. The outside should develop a lightly golden finish while the inside remains moist and flaky. Check that the thickest pieces reach a safe internal temperature of 63°C.

Step 6: Coat with Garlic Butter

Transfer the cooked salmon bites to a serving bowl. Pour the prepared garlic butter sauce over them and toss gently so every piece receives a light coating. Be careful not to break the salmon while mixing.

Step 7: Garnish and Serve

Finish with freshly chopped parsley, a sprinkle of smoked paprika, and lemon wedges. Serve immediately while warm, with the garlic butter coating still glossy and fragrant.

Serving Suggestion:

Serve these salmon bites over steamed rice, quinoa, or a fresh salad for a complete meal. They also pair beautifully with roasted potatoes, sautéed vegetables, or creamy garlic dip.

Tip:

Choose fresh, firm salmon fillets and cut them into evenly sized cubes for consistent cooking. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket, as this can prevent proper browning. Cooking times vary between air fryer models, so check the internal temperature rather than relying only on the timer. If using frozen salmon, thaw it completely and pat it dry before seasoning.

Enjoy these juicy air fryer salmon bites with rich garlic butter, fresh lemon, and fragrant herbs for a quick homemade meal full of flavour!
