Classic Banana Bread Recipe

This classic banana bread recipe is a favorite for a reason! It’s simple to make, requiring only a few basic ingredients and one mixing bowl. The result is a moist, flavorful loaf with the perfect balance of sweetness and banana flavor. Whether you enjoy it plain or add nuts, chocolate chips, or a sprinkle of cinnamon, this banana bread is sure to become a staple in your kitchen. Perfect for breakfast, a snack, or even dessert!

Ingredients:

  • 2 to 3 medium (7" to 7-7/8") very ripe bananas, peeled (about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups mashed)

  • 1/3 cup (76g) butter, unsalted or salted, melted

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 pinch salt

  • 3/4 cup (150g) sugar (adjust to taste: 1/2 cup for less sweet, 1 cup for more sweet)

  • 1 large egg, beaten

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 1/2 cups (205g) all-purpose flour

Method:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Butter an 8x4-inch loaf pan.

  2. Mash Bananas and Add Butter: In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Stir in melted butter.

  3. Mix Dry and Wet Ingredients:

    • Mix in baking soda and salt.

    • Stir in sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.

    • Mix in the flour until just combined.

  4. Bake the Bread: Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the loaf browns too quickly but remains wet inside, tent loosely with foil and continue baking.

  5. Cool and Serve: Remove from oven, let cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Cool completely before slicing and serving.

Storage Tips:

  • Store at room temperature for up to 4 days.

  • Refrigerate for up to 5 days.

  • Freeze for longer storage.

Enjoy this moist and flavorful banana bread as a classic treat for any occasion!
